First of all, you will need to setup NFS or some equivalent on each
thin-client in order to export the cdrom resource of the thin-client.
You might take a look at ENBD which has enhancements that have been
added in order to export remotely floppy and cdrom resources from
machines (specifically for the thin-client problem) and have them be
able to be accessed on the application server.
