Apparentely. That should be possible. I have also tried that with
somewhat discouraging results. The server seemed to get killed (or
restarted) and the mouse didn't work very well when I switched between
Xservers. But that might be due to the terminal having to litte RAM (8
Mb physical and 32 Mb swap).

I tried to do it from inittab

3:4:respawn:/usr/X11R6/bin/X :0 -depth 16 -query 192.168.0.254
4:4:respawn:/usr/X11R6/bin/X :1 -depth 24 -query 192.168.0.254

(And commented out the start_ws line in rc.local)

How is this implemented in ltsp 4?
