Cool, now that you mention it, when I started my ltsp project, intended to still use a few recycled hard drives from the old machines and actually got frustrated because of my poor ability to actually install a small linux kernel/initrd with lilo and eb to a small partition on the hard drive.

I ended up retiring the hard disks and using an all EPROM approach, but still have that little devil in my head insiting that I get those hard disks to boot to lts.

Could you make a well needed documentation specifficly on the process of you clients software setup? I think it has a great potential to help many porojects beyond ltsp since my google searches for days came up totally senseless, specially with the comparison to this simple steps in DOS:

a: fdisk; format c:; sys c:; edit autoexec.bat; eb8139.com

8/

I have been a little swaped lately and have not had a chance to get back to folks on the list.

I have found a few disk on chip solutions and have hacked together a little set of pxe bootable images that I use to boot and program these flash disks. If anyone cares I am willing to share what I have but I am not sure I will have much time in the next little while to really clean it up and make it suitable for inclusion in the LTSP main stream. What I have done is use tomsrtbt images combined with grub to fdisk, format, mkfs, and then install the wireless image and initrd on to the flash. I also leave a tomsrtbt image on the disk so that I can boot up under that and edit and change the flash if requied later.

If someone feels like stepping forward and taking what I have and cleaining it up a bit for inclusion into LTSP I am more than happy to provde the code I have and what help I can.
