One last thing to check here, just to be sure and to eliminate possible source, try replacing teh host name with host ip in the root-path setting. IF this works then the problem is in the DNS setup. Or LTSP can't do DNS lookup till after boot is finished. If having hte IP hardcode does not work then it time to check your NFS exports.
