I've been researching about the LTSP for some time, and I have finally decidede to take the plunge. I was slighty disappointed when I found that the RPM's wouldn't install on RH7.3 but I had a fresh 7.1 box sitting around. After installing everything, and configuring it all, I have a few questions before I start adding workstations.
1) Does every workstation need to be configured on the server? I think what I want to ask here is, would it be possible for me to plug a workstation into the network, enter a boot disk and fire it up, with no additional configuration? 2) Is it possible for clients to access local hardware, such as harddrives, floppy drives? This would greatly simplify many of the tasks I had to do. And Finally, 3) In the documentation, I noticed that the clients swap files, are stored on the server, via NFS. If 20 clients are all doing memory intensive tasks, wouldn't this slow down the whole operation?
