This is definately an XDMCP problem.
check /etc/X11/xdm/Xaccess
these 2 next lines are correct as in uncommented
* #any host can get a login window
* CHOOSER BROADCAST #any indirect host can get a
chooser
Also, Try this:
netstat -anp | grep ":177 "
no response is bad, you should get something like
this:
udp 0 0 0.0.0.0:177 0.0.0.0:*
1408/gdm-binary
Just to make sure that gdm is listening for remote
connections.
