Garry,
Sorry for the delay in posting these but I didn't have them where I
was! :-) Please remember that these were written for my needs on a
public system where a known user is at each terminal.

When I get a chance after the Holidays I may clean these up to be more
useful in general.

You may download the scripts from
http://www.elbnet.com/fanwood/scripts

1) clean-up - This script lives in /usr/local/bin and is executed by the
user from a desktop icon. Basically it kills off all of the user's
processes (in this case Mozilla, AbiWord, etc.) and turns on the
screensaver.

2) kiosk-reset - This script also lives in /usr/local/bin and is run by
cron once a minute, or however often you'd like. It kills off any
processes that are left running once the screensaver turns on.

3) mozilla-start - This also resides in /usr/local/bin and is called by
a user from their desktop icon for Mozilla. It first checks to see if
Mozilla is already running for this user, warns them that they are about
to kill the running Mozilla if it is, then kills off Mozilla and starts
a new instance.

4) start-mozilla - Also in /usr/local/bin I use this script to write
some session tracking info and to put the user is in a directory where
they can easily access the link to the floppy disk. You could just start
Mozilla directly from #3 above.

5) reset.cgi-script - is put in the cgi-bin and is executed from an
administrative web page. It basically just kills the entire X session
for a user. I had to do it twice each time the script is called because
the auto-log in doesn't work quite right if I just kill it once.

Again these were not written with general portability in mind, so you
will have to modify them as needed to work for you. Hope these are
helpful.

Pete
