Hi everyone,
I have some questions I hope can be answered. At work we use NCD X
terminals everywhere and they are getting long in the tooth. We want
to replace them with something very similar but with better graphics
capability(1280*1024@millions of colors and OpenGL support). I setup a
RedHat 8 box with LTSP and it works very well. It even allows me to
pick from all the window managers that RH installs! The only problem is
that it provides way more then what I need it to do for an Xterminal.
I just want it simple like an NCD. All I need for the workstation to
do is login automatically and launch something like Windowmaker. Since
the users will be ssh/telneting to other servers they don't need an
account on the terminal server. I was thinking of setting Windowmaker
up so that nothing is on the screen. When you right click it would
bring up a menu with the names of the servers my users need connections
to. Here is a run down of what I need.
1. What video cards support openGL out of the box with RH 8 and LTSP?
My users want to start doing 3d plots from data.
2. How do I make the workstations login to the terminal server
automatically and launch the window manager?
Am I going about this the wrong way? Is there a better solution to
replacing these NCD's?
