I am running a RH8 Linux box with the default GNOME
desktop and have seemed to have configured the
diskless workstation so that I can at least see the
mouse (blurry though) move and the background has the
XFree86 logo and nothing else. I have read some
documentation and checked to see what dm ws running.
I put in

ps -e | grep " .dm"

and what it read was

827 ? 00:00:00 gdm-binary
870 ? 00:00:00 gdm-binary
10787 ? 00:00:00 xdm

What does it mean for gdm-binary? I mean I can not
seem to get the login screen. Can someone point me in
the right direction? Thx in advance.

Cory

"In a universe full of trillions of stars, of constellations and solar systems, there
is one minute little revolving speck of matter which we call our earth. This speck of
matter is covered with millions of microscopial creatures called human beings. The
strange thing is that these microscopial creatures consider themselves important.
Each minute one of them is able to feel that he is more important than the whole
universe upon which he is but a speck."
