Last week I had a class of 30 students using OpenOffice and Mozilla when the system started to malfunction. Basically at one point no new programs would open and error messages like "too many open files in the system" started to appear and I had to continually kill runaway processes to keep the system running. The next lesson, programming using Judo for java started OK but after about 15 minutes the same sorts of problem occured. Can anyone explain what is happening and how I could avoid these problems. regards garry
