I do not know if it relates to this thread or not but I remember that there
was a
bios update that broke pxe boot as well.

I experienced a similar problem when starting out with ltsp, and
discovered that both bootp was activated via inetd (xinetd in RH).
Disabling bootp solved the problem for me, so you may want to check
that.
