My first contribution to the list :-)

I think for S3, you should use X4. Try:

XSERVER = VESA

if the card is the common S3 series. If you have a VIRGE, try:

XSERVER = S3VIRGE

That isn't a "what you should do", but a "what I'm doing here" :P
