http://ltsp.org/contrib/autologin_kdm.html
it con also be configured with gdm

/etc/X11/gdm/Sessions/
There is a similar method for KDM of course, but this
is what I use, each file in this directory executes
its contents when they are selected from the login
screen.

for exameple, the file GNOME contains this
#!/bin/bash
exec /etc/X11/xdm/Xsession gnome

so if you want it to execute mozilla after GNOME, just
do this:

#!/bin/bash
exec /etc/X11/xdm/Xsession gnome &
mozilla

easy! 8)

http://qvwm.org/
t is completely root configurable, and regular users
will neverr be able to change settings, remove all
terminal programs and they will be unable to execute
anything besides what you put on the menus 8)

LOCAL_APPS yes, it exists, install it and configure it

there is no wm that supports autologin because that is
handled by the display manager: KDM, GDM, or XDM, use
the one you like the most 8)

its all in the docs, dot forget to 'chmod +x
/etc/X11/gdm/Sessions/fvwm' or whatever name you gave
it to allow it to be chosen at GDM

There is another approach, why not create a fullscreen
web browser session witout a window manager?
Just:
touch /etc/X11/gdm/Sessions/Mozilla
chmod +x /etc/X11/gdm/Sessions/Mozilla

#!/bin/bash
exec mozilla geometry 1024x768 etc...

 (I am not sure about the correct command but it is
possible to make it fullscreen to your ws speciffic
geometry and without menubars and so on)

Gnome has nothing to do with autologin, because its
handled by GDM, KDM or XDM
