Hi,

Love LTSP, using it to boot Linux on old slow Windows machines (that
unfortunately I cannot remove Windows from).

Question: How can I get the hard drive to spin down (sleep) on the
workstations?

I've tried adding "/sbin/hdparm -S 1 /dev/hda" to etc/rc.local, but it
seems the hda device is not present. I guess this is related to devfs,
which I am unfamiliar with. Error message while booting workstation is:

/dev/hda: No such file or directory

I looked at etc/modules.devfs (which I never changed). Several lines in
that file seem to imply that it should be mounting all drives in
/dev/disks. I don't even have a /dev/disks subdirectory.

Does anyone know how to get the local HD to appear in /dev, so I can run
hdparm on it?

Any advice appreciated.

Thanks!
Billy
