All, After some effort, and the much appreciated help of Alain Knaff, I have my Casetronic 2688R thin client working very smoothly with a USB flash device, and can access it from MToolsFM. For those that do not want to use floppies, but these devices instead, I wrote this up and added it to the K12LSTP wiki at:
http://www.k12ltsp.org/wiki/wiki/run.php?iRequest=wiki/ViewPage&iPage=Technical:_USB_Storage_Devices if interested. Feel free to edit the write-up with comments, better ways, etc. One glitch: While I can access my 20Gb Pocketec drive using MToolsFM on the server, and from the client when the device is connected to the server. But ... the same settings do not work from a client if the device is connected to the client. MToolsFM reports "Big disks not supported on this architecture". On the clients, the device sometimes can be mounted from runlevel 3, and I can list its contents, sometimes I get a kernel panic: <0> Kernel panic: Aiee, killing interrupt handler. On the server, fdisk reports: Disk /dev/sda1: 64 heads, 32 sectors, 19077 cylinders Units = cylinders of 2048 * 512 bytes Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System /dev/sda1p1 ? 937477 1203315 272218546+ 20 Unknown Partition 1 does not end on cylinder boundary: phys=(357, 116, 40) should be (357, 63, 32) /dev/sda1p2 ? 649505 912677 269488144 6b Unknown Partition 2 does not end on cylinder boundary: phys=(269, 101, 57) should be (269, 63, 32) /dev/sda1p3 ? 263179 945973 699181456 53 OnTrack DM6 Aux3 Partition 3 does not end on cylinder boundary: phys=(324, 77, 19) should be (324, 63, 32) /dev/sda1p4 * 680971 680981 10668+ 49 Unknown Partition 4 does not end on cylinder boundary: phys=(335, 78, 2) should be (335, 63, 32) Partition table entries are not in disk order Ideas?
