Hello, I'm working on an LTSP diskless (cluster) config at the moment using the LTSP 3.0.X distributions on top of Redhat 9. I have used a pure 2.4.20 kernel source however, which I need for the mosix clustering software. After quite a bit of tweaking I finally got the client to boot up using a ram disk and load it's root partition via NFS. However the client will not perform DNS resolution; when I ping a host with it's DNS name it returns the error e.g.,
ping: <hostname>: Resolver Error 0 (no error) whereas if I ping the host's IP address it works happily away. For some reason the /etc/hosts file the client reads seems to be different from the one I export in the /opt/ltsp/i386/etc dir. Could this be a factor? Incidentally the host that the client uses is not the main DHCP or DNS server on our network. I have looked up the net for help on this but answers seem to be somewhat vague. I'm fairly stuck on this at the moment as I need it for a project I'm working on. Can anyone on the list help? Respond privately to me if needs me. Many TIA, Mike. ------------------------------------------------------- This SF.Net email is sponsored by: INetU Attention Web Developers & Consultants: Become An INetU Hosting Partner.
