I've been tyring on and off for months to get sound working on my client at home, but with no real success.
Have tried the various docs and googled a little, but with no luck.
Sound cards tried.
Creative labs CT4810 with a es1371 module loaded. Vibra 16 card.
Both drivers load at boot with no errors (runlevel 3), but let's work on the vibra (ISA) card 1st since it's installed in the workstaton now.
When logged into my kde desktop I get best results with the "arts" sound turned off and the config below.
The geiger counter noise mixed in with the desired sound begins after I run a ogg file. So there is no geiger click sound till I try to play a .ogg file. The sound then continues till I logout of kde. I have tryied eds but it returns distortion (volume is at 75% in the lts.conf file).
I thought it may be an interrupt conflict, but there are now no shared interrupts on the system. I have tried to install sndconfig; it runns but does not detect the card and when I manually set it up it complains saying:
The following error occured running modprobe program: modprobe: can't locate module sound-slot-0.
motherboard is a ASUS with mixed ISA/PCI/AGP with 128 DDR. pent III 550??
