Y'all,

Anyone have any idea why the UK keyboards connected to LTSP here bring
up £ (note the umlouted capital A) instead of just a pound sign ()?

I can always go back and delete the capital-umlouted-A, but this is a
bit of a pain for our sales dept.

Any tips appreciated as always :-)

Two tips, actually :-)

One is to set your keybord layout explicitly in lts.conf. In the case of
the UK this would most likely be something like

xkbLayout = uk

The other is top run ldconfig again like so:

ldconfig -r /opt/ltsp/i386

Hmm... :-( That didn't do it.
I actually already had the xkbLayout line in my lts.conf as I'm sure I had this problem (or a similar one) on a previous LTSP server. ldconfig didn't fix the problem either...

I've actually noticed that the problem affects two keys, "the-one-next-to-1-and-above-tab" (I never know what to call that key), used in combination with the shift key produces: "¬", and the "3" key, which with shift, produces: "£"

If anyone knows what's going on, and can tell me, I'd be forever endebted :-).

Oh, btw, I've just managed to get some sort of rudimentary login/load-balancing going with a couple of LTSP servers. Just involves some NFS, shell scripts and crontab - not very complex, but the end result is that you can ensure that both your servers (or as many as you might want if the script is extended) have the same number of users on them.

It's not proper load balancing, but it's good enough for what we need here - if anyone is interested, I'll package it up and write some docs for you. let me know.

Regards

L
