You have to set an environment variable for the rlpr host
RLPR_PRINTHOST=192.168.0.254 (or whatever the IP address of your print server is).
LPDEST=printername
export LPDEST RLPR_PRINTHOST
rlpr /etc/hosts
Also you have to configure the lpr daemon on the print server to accept connections from a non-privileged port. My print server is Solaris but it seems to work fine with RedHat 9.0
I remember that I modified the source to remove a warning that it was connecting from a non-privileged port, seemed unnecessary from the client end.
