I just use xchooser with xdmcp sessions.  I configure ltsp to use
the X -indirect statement to reach the xchooser menu.

You can also configure the servers to mirror the ltsp /tftpboot
sections, using heartbeat or  dhcp servers on each ltsp machine.

If you have the home directories on the ltsp servers you can also
use drdb network block mirroring to sync the user's files.

This allows for a flexible complete redundancy.  If you would like
