Well... I saw Mr. David Jhonson's reply and it make sense to me... have you 
checked out this ?

"When you configure the printer in OpenOffice, make sure you have "-oraw"
on the lp line.  Otherwise, OpenOffice and your print spooler will BOTH
try to convert the document to postscript and you get odd effects (like
printing raw postscript or blank pages).
"
