When the Xserver starts up, for certain video cards like the i810,
it tries to determine how much ram has been reserved for video,
and I think it incorrectly guesses sometimes.

SO, you need to tell it.

Try adding a line like this to your lts.conf file:

   X_VIDEORAM = 3068

That's the magic number that worked for me on a workstation with
an i810.  You may need to try some other number.
