Sounds like you have a budget then ..

Database on its own computer.

SCSI for LTSP harddrives.

1000BaseT for key servers.

I would also run DHCP, DNS, tftp, and possibly authentication on another
machine, and consider dual Thin Client servers with X -indirect.
