The point where you are getting the error is NOT trying
to read modules.dep in /opt/ltsp/i386/lib/modules/....

it is trying to read the modules.dep file in the initrd,
which gets put there during the buildk script.

It could be that you are running out of space on the
initrd, OR you are running out of inodes.

Both of those values are asked for when you run buildk.

Try increasing the number of blocks and/or the number of
inodes, and see if it works.
