I have downloaded the four *.iso files from K12LTSP and I tried burning
them on CDR with GnomeToaster Now the CD refuses to boot. I thought
K12LTSP images were complete??
All my serach on the net made me understand that I have to create a
"boot" image and burn it together with K12LTSP iso files. Question is
how? Any helping hand??
Their images do work fine. I have burned their 3.x series as well as the beta 4 discs just fine. I dont use gnome toaster so I wont hazard to guess what you should do with Gnome toaster.
Did you just burn the file to the cd-r? that is usually the problem. You need to create the cd from an image. ANother issue is that you have a corrupted image. Running the md5sum against them will tell you.
Personally... commandline cdrecord is my favorite. (as superuser) cdrecord -v -eject dev=0,0,0 speed=12 name-of.iso
this will create the cd properly from the iso image.
Now... the dev=0,0,0 is probably fine for most folks, but you should verify that this indeed the proper setting for your machine.
as superuser run the command
cdrecord -scanbus
You should see something like this:
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~# cdrecord -scanbus
Cdrecord 2.00.3 (i686-pc-linux-gnu) Copyright (C) 1995-2002 Jorg Schilling
Linux sg driver version: 3.1.25
Using libscg version 'schily-0.7'
scsibus0:
0,0,0 0) 'MATSHITA' 'UJDA330 ' '1.00' Removable CD-ROM
0,1,0 1) *
0,2,0 2) *
0,3,0 3) *
0,4,0 4) *
0,5,0 5) *
0,6,0 6) *
0,7,0 7) *
See the top line? 0,0,0 0) 'MATSHITA' 'UJDA330 ? This means that 0,0,0 is the proper dev= entry.
The speed=12 is easy. What is your CD-R burning speed? 4,6,12,20? Just enter the proper number.
Hope this helps.
