As you noticed, LTSP4 does not (yet) install the boot kernel.

You should be able to unpack the (ltsp3) ltsp-kernel tarball in the right place
to get going.

The kernel tarball should give you the /tftpboot/lts/vmlinuz-2.4.19-ltsp-1 
kernel, and the /opt/ltsp/i386/lib/modules/* kernel modules.

I imagine some folks are beavering away to get kernel 2.6 in there,
which should do a better job of mouse detection, etc and maybe also
have a smaller footprint.

PS. the ltsp_install web-based install works fine, but .. roll on
    the distro-specific packages - RPMs, debs.
