Andy,

I think you need to try setting the SWCursor option in the lts.conf
file.

Try something like this:

    X_DEVICE_OPTION_01  =  "SWCursor"

I had a problem quite a while ago running VMWare on workstations with 
Matrox cards, and the problem I saw was the pointer that you see on the 
screen was about 20 pixels a way from where the application thought the 
pointer was.  Made it really tricky to select text when the cursor was 
pointing to the wrong place.

Anyway, give it a try and let us know if it fixes the problem.
