Hi friends,
I was able to teach a class on HTML this morning using our
new-and-improved LTSP lab, thanks to the people on this list!
BTW, photos of the lab are at:
http://educar.el-camino.net/photos/computerlab-2003/index.html
and more specs:
http://www.el-camino.net/wiki/ITP/El_Camino_Lab
Now there are a couple of new problems, however. One is that booting
the clients seems much slower than before, and performance is down, even
though the server is much faster, with 4x the RAM. I think it's because
eth0 on the server is being incorrectly configured at 10Mbps instead of
the full 100. Here's an excerpt from dmesg:
eth0: RealTek RTL8139 Fast Ethernet at 0xf8b03000,
00:01:29:68:04:b6, IRQ 5
eth0: Identified 8139 chip type 'RTL-8101'
ip_tables: (C) 2000-2002 Netfilter core team
eth0: link up, 10Mbps, half-duplex, lpa 0x0000
The second problem is that some of the clients are loading the English
keymap instead of Spanish. It doesn't happen all the time; I can't yet
figure out a pattern.
Ideas?
Best regards,
Jeff
