Check /etc/SuSE-release ... all other YaST stuff is under /var/lib/YaST2 LTS 4 uses XFree86 v. 4.3.99 GOT IT WORKING!!! Use "vesa" for the video driver. Or play around with others if you want... But this should work for you. I wonder if there is a bug in XFree86 4.3.99 for the older chips. It seems the drivers exist in 4.3.99 for the older chips because I at least get a screen using "auto" but KDE doesn't like it. One of the problems with LTS3 I found is that it only uses XFree86 4.1 and doesn't even support some of the chips so it never became an issue... you HAD to use the older drivers. In 4.2 and 4.3 more and more drivers appeared.

Hi. It did'nt help me to change permissions on the kdmrc ++ files, but worth a shot. As of hardware, I have user several different configurations with various results: Old crap with 32mb ram and a S3 Virge adapter : Failed. Newer Fujitsu Siemens with Intel 810 graphics: Worked! Xnest on a machine running SuSE 9.0 : Failed like the one with the S3 chip.. There might be something in what he says about separate XF86Config files ? The S3 have to use a 3.3.6 server, but the 810 uses 4.3.0.1 like the server itself does. I'm not sure how this works with the Xnest program dough... I'll let you know if/when I'm getting closer to the solution. (We'll need it for remote admin purposes, so I HAVE to figure this one out.... =P ) - Alf Solli - Btw; The mentioned server of mine, was previously a Suse *8.2* server, recently upgraded to 9.0. After this operation, you (Yast Online updater) insisted that it still was a 8.2 version and thus won't update it's packages... Everything else seems ok dough.. Know anything about how you determines it's version number ? On Monday 26 January 2004 16:26, Craig Herring wrote: > Nope... not yet.
