Just to answer my own question: with help from the IRC #ltsp channel, I
have now got sound working on the Jammin 125, using K12LTSP 4.0 and
SOUND_DAEMON = esd.
I hadn't realised the ltsp kernel that comes with K12LTSP 4 is v. 3.0.4.
Jim McQuillan's Jammin_125.PDF does state clearly that kernels 3.0.5 or
higher should be used.
Many thanks for help received, from the best support team I've ever had
the pleasure to call upon!

Subject: Jammin 125 sound

Apologies for cross-posting - With help from Jim, I've been able to boot
up my Jammin 125 past the point where the screen says "Running Sound
Server" followed by a faint click from the speakers. (Previously, we got
"module not found" and Jim pointed out a line missing for cx5530.o in
/opt/ltsp/i386/etc/lib/modules/2.4.21-ltsp-1/modules.dep)
But with the cx5530.o line inserted, still no system sounds from GNOME:
no pops when launching programs, or sounds when playing in the Sound
Preferences panel.
Background info: the server is running K12LTSP 3.1.1 regularly updated
(I guess that makes it 3.1.2) and lts.conf includes the following lines:
# Jammin 125 with sound
[00:50:41:01:4c:f8]
SOUND = Y
SMODULE_01 = cx5530
SOUND_DAEMON = nasd
A workstation right next to the Jammin 125 is also set with SOUND_DAEMON
= nasd and works just fine via the same speakers. Can anyone suggest how
to debug further?
Thanks for any ideas.
