Are you aware of the functionality of GLX ? Open Graphics Library
(OpenGL) eXtention. Basically enables 3D applications to access the
graphics card directly...

I am in the processes of setting some 3D apps to run locally and be able
to use OpenGL in order to play games on a LAN. Once I have this running
I'll post to the list and let you know how I did it.

I hope that gives you an insight...
