LTSP 4.0 installed on RH 8.0

When booting a thin terminal things go well until I get the following
error messages:

1) "Cannot write to remote file handle on 10.4.1.26:514"
      * I added "syslog 514/udp" to /etc/services
      * In /etc/rc.d/init.d/syslog I added the " -r" as follows:

        else
                SYSLOGD_OPTIONS="-m 0 -r"
                KLOGD_OPTIONS="-2"
        fi
        I still get the error. What gives? Have I put the -r (accept remote
connections) in the wrong place?

2) "/etc/screen.d/startx line 1 LOCAL command not found"
      * when set to SCREEN_0 = STARTX the terminal hangs on the sort of
        herringbone pattern that RedHat uses.

      * If I set to RUNLEVEL = 3 then the screen messages stop with the
        syslog error message. I don't get a shell prompt.

I've run ltspcfg and the status option shows everything installed,
enabled and running except that xdcmp isn't enabled or running - it is
installed.

Any ideas?

Thanks
John Clay
