If you can't use NFS, then LTSP won't do what you want.
You might want to look at some of the bookable CDs out there, like knoppix: http://www.knoppix.com/


These are bootable CDs with a complete OS, including X. They create a RAM disk and can use removable media like USB flash drives to provide for /home persistence if necessary. Depending on the speed of the CD-ROM, knoppix or something similar might do what you want.

Yes, but the doc says that I've to use NFS for this and I can't.
