Hi Primero and LTSP people:
Did you solve your problems with NBD? I've configured NBD in client and server, and it
works well. I've even configured supermount (this time not in the LTSP terminals but
in the server) and it works like a charm, but I have two main problems:
1. I still haven't had any luck using audio CDs. I've specified the nbd device
(/dev/nb10 in my case) but no cd player software (kscd, gnome-cd, xmms) have been able
to read them. Not even root's user!
2. It seems NBD isn't appropiate for removable media. Did you noticed it? Maybe this
is the problem you have been dealing with. At least in my case, NBD client only works
if there's a CD in the cdrom device, and this is annoying.
ENBD seems to be the solution for the second problem, and who knows, maybe it's also
the solution for the first one, although I think that as you told me you have achieved
to hear audio CDs possibly it's a simple configuration problem. I'd like to see you in
the #ltsp channel to have some words about this problem :-).
BTW, do you use supermount ? As with NBD you share the devices the thin terminals to
the server, I think supermount ought to be used in the LTSP server. I'm having
problems with supermount: I built my own kernel and it work well, but I annot move the
mouse in the server (and it's needed). I'm using K12LTSP. K12LTSP failed to help me, I
suspect Fedora's people would be more quialified about this affairs kernel related as
they were the one who built the kernel (K12LTSP is a modifed Fedora).
Finally, about ENBD, I'm also having trouble. It's not so simple to use it.. neither
to build it for the thin terminals, as my thin terminal's root dir haven't got gcc
installed therefore it's not easy to buid anything, therefore I must keep copying
files, and it's everything but easy. NBD was much more simple to use, so I'd like to
solve the two problems raised via NBD :P.
Good luck (at least better than mine!),
Edulix.
PD: I appologise my bad english!.
