I posted a question about this to the K12LTSP list but apparently very few people on that list are either (A) running java applets, or (B) having any problem with font readability in java applets.
In looking over the list archive, we've already tried what one person mentioned regarding SwingSet about 4 years ago (mangle font.properties and replace Lucida fonts with appropriate fonts), yet the fonts _still_ do not look anything like they would on a stand-alone install. Is there any newer information, or a known solution? People are starting to talk "workman's comp" due to eye strain. Because of the nature of the application, we cannot go any lower than 1024x768.
