I've checked these out. 
First, I'm running iptables but input, output and
forward are all accept.  I have a few other entries
for my cable connection on a separate NIC but they are
accept also.
Second, it matches except that I use 192.168.0.6 for
my internal server IP, but the line is the same as
yours except for the "1"
Third, it does show my server (IP above) and simply
hangs at that point.  I'm using the same type NIC in
my server to connect to the internet so I think it's
not the NIC. I know the IP for the workstation is
unique in my net (there's only 4).
Showmount -e shows the 2 entries that were put in when
ltsp was installed (just like the docu) plus a general
use directory "/home/data" used by my local net for
our data items that are shareable.
I guess my next shot is to set up another workstation
(different computer) and see if the same thing happens
though more ideas will get me on them.
