Thanks Paul, this app will do the trick for me!
I've enhanced a bit the command you provided, and I'll use it in the
following way:

kstart -type Dock --skiptaskbar
    xdaliclock -countdown `date +%s` -builtin0 -geometry -0+0

where
 - "date +%s" outputs the same as your date command (%s is a gnu
extension to date)
 - "builtin0" will use a smaller font
 - "geometry -0+0" will put the window in the top right corner
 - "kstart -type Dock --skiptaskbar" will make the app be docked to the
screen (not to the traybut I can live with that) and no entry in the kde
taskbar will be shown...

Thanks again, and I advice anyone that needs this functionality to try the
several flags available in kstart and xdaliclock, fitting it to your
needs!

Ps: I thing -noseconds will save bandwith as it will refresh much less
often, and maybe I'll hack the source to prevent the clock to change to
date mode when clicked (it only changes back when the time changes and if
you use the -noseconds switch this means will need to way a minute for it
to change back)

Happy ltsp for everyone
