Jonathan, Is that happening after installing ltsp_kernel-3.0.15, and adjusting dhcpd.conf to point to the correct image ?
The HP units use a USB keyboard, and support for that isn't compiled statically into the kernel. the USB modules need to be loaded. As for powering off, what you need to do is hold the power button for at least 5 seconds, it should then power down.
