That could be related to the root_squash feature of NFS, which does a user
mapping of UID 0 to UID 65535 (nobody) on NFS shares - unless you declare
that this is not what you want.
In most cases though, this is 100% appropriate. You don't run (usually) local
apps as root, but as the user who's logged in from the terminal - and that's
in all common cases not the root user.
In case you need to circumvent this NFS mapping, read the nfs documentation,
and set the no_root_squash as option in /etc/exports (on server).
