This problem has been posted in the past to this list without any
resolution. I am also not the only user reporting this. It seems that
there is some incompatibility issues between Fedora Core 2 (kernel
2.6.6-1.435.2.3 [latest FC2 update but earlier kernels from FC2
exhibited same problem]) and LTSP 4.0.

There is a problem with the nfs mounting and this can be intermittent. I
have had some success by deleting /var/lib/nfs/rmtab on the server and
restarting the server. But then it always reappears later.

FYI, I have used LTSP since version 2 and I don't think that this is an
install error or mis-configuration.

Is there a problem between this 2.6 kernel and the nfs client in ltsp4?

Hi,

As far as I can tell something was changed in 2.6 that broke NFS for some clients.
Known workarounds:
* install 2.4 kernel on your NFS server
* try replacing your switch(es)
* try different NICs on client machines (I can recall someone once reported that the problem went away after changing the server NIC)
* you might also replace knfsd with user space NFS daemon, though perhaps it is not very easy with Fedora Core
