Thank you for the quick reply. No debian here
unfortunately. For the client, I'm running an old
beast with a S3 trio64.. Atleast I'm pretty sure
that's what it is (hd is wiped), all I've got is the
old XF86Config file from mandrake 8 install.
Here's the device section from that if this is any
help:
Section "Device"
Identifier "Generic VGA"
Chipset "generic"
EndSection
Section "Device"
Identifier "S3 Trio64 (generic)"
VendorName "Unknown"
BoardName "Unknown"
# Chipset "S3 Trio64"
# VideoRam 2048
# Clock lines
# Uncomment following option if you see a big white
block
# instead of the cursor!
# Option "sw_cursor"
Option "power_saver"
EndSection
I'm not sure how to increase the vram as you suggest,
perhaps you can tell me??
I tried setting lts.conf to use this old XF86Config
file (hoping for sheer luck) but it was the same old
dance.
Interesting that you mentioned RENDER (I'm not sure
what exactly it does) because I have noticed these in
kdm.log:
extension "GLX" missing on display "shop:0.0"
extension "RENDER" missing on display "shop:0.0"
and in the /var/warn
localhost kdm[3556]: Greeter exited unexpectedly
Again, thanks to any for help.
J
