Rick,
64-bit linux shouldn't make any difference.
When you ran through the grayscreen document, what did you find when you did:
netstat -anp | grep ":177 "

Hello. I am trying to get LTSP 4.1 to work on SUSE 9.1 64-bit. I am using a Term-150 thin client, but this fails to start an X session. I have checked all the items in the "gray screen" document, and all of this information is correct, except for ipchains which the system can't find and which isn't "man"ed (so I'm assuming it doesn't apply). Is it something with 64-bit SUSE? This worked flawlessly in the lab where I used 32-bit SUSE 9.1. Thanks

Jim.
I found KDM listening on the port just as the "grey screen" doc described. I've since discovered this to also be the case with 32-bit SuSE. The variable left in all this seems to be ltsp 4.1 vs. ltsp 4.0. I used 4.0 in my lab test bed. That's what worked flawlessly with SuSE 9.1.
