After further probing, I found out something interesting It seems that the problem is on the motherboard, however, I cannot confirm on the technical term.
While the error message say about 'NFS server not responding', it turns out that my setup is okay since other workstation able to boot up and logon to my SuSE 9.1. Only on this particular motherboard (no identification except that the BIOS chip dated 1993) that the error of 'NFS server not responding' will appear.
