Hi.

I have LTSP 4.1 running on a server which runs
Mandrake 10.0, and I'm haveing problems getting sound
to work correctly on the workstations.

In the lts.conf file on the server, I have this added
to the workstation configuration file:

SOUND = Y
SOUND_DAEMON = nasd
VOLUME = 80
CD_VOLUME = 80

When setting up sound in KDE on the workstation, if
you select the Enlightened Sound Server in the desktop
configuration (and in the lts.conf file), sound works,
but there is a 2-3 second delay between screen events
and the cooresponding sound. It isn't necessarily a
problem when playing an mp3, the sound and the level
meter in XMMS don't match but it isn't a big deal,
however it's _very_ annoying when the kids want to
play something like Frozen Bubble. What would account
for the delay, and how can it be fixed?

I've also tried used the network sound driver, again
selected in both the lts.conf file and in the KDE
desktop setup, and any sound event immediately crashes
the sound server.

I've checked aRTs with 'artsd -A' on the command line,
and it lists nas as one of the available audio
outputs, so I'm not sure what why the server crashes.

I've gone through this How-To:
http://www.bravegnuworld.com/~rjune/ltsp/audio/HOWTO-arts.html
but I still end up with the crashing sound server.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks...
Todd
