A new redhat 9 install, ltsp-installer, my existing (unspecial) lts.conf and gdmsetup to enable xdmcp, trusted local ethernet = working ltsp with autologin with GDM. I've done it lots. Takes 45 min blank-hd to working LTSP. So look at what you've changed, broken, missed, but the basic system, install etc is sound.
