you can list the modules with
ls /opt/ltsp/i386/usr/X11R6/lib/modules/drivers/
I try to use "auto" whenever there isn't a problem though.

first try the one that sounds logical.  for example, if you have an i810
chipset, try the i810_drv.o  If I don't find something that way, I usually
search the list archives for a reference to the video card in question and
usually find the answer.

not sure what you mean.  I use dns instead of the hosts file anyway.
