A.J,

No, but you can root a server from a thin client.

You also, eh? I took it farther than that once. A great many windows
weenies went to great pains to make sure that I had no network access, as
I was the linux geek of the area. One underground twisted pair to the
local phone can and a hole in
radius dial-in authentication later, and I was back in business. Then
they arranged for my doors to get kicked down by the local gestapo, twice.
When the first attempt didn't succeed, due to my quick thinking about
due process, a microphone, and a threatened lawsuit, they came back a
second time, but killed the power to the building first like the nazi's
used to do, so I couldn't similarly provide proof of their wrongdoing.
During the second raid I narrowly escaped out a window with all of the
hard drives from my network while they were kicking in the boards where
the door was. That path eventually led me to the 55th Internet
Engineering Task Force conference in atlanta, via a 150 mile bicycle ride,
a long stint of hitch-hiking, a few months of squatting on an abandoned
victorian mansion, and a huge anti-war protest. At the IETF I found
vindication from an international body of peers with enough power to
effect such, and now live relatively happily less than 5 miles from where
the home-invasion occurred, with a 10gHz openmosix cluster, 3 dec alpha
linux terminal servers, redundant routes to the internet, 4 cats, a great
wife and a daughter. True story.

No problems there. Thats the goal, right? People doing what they want
with software? Works for me.

Enjoy,
Scott
