Verner,

Can you hit  Shift-PageUp, and see if you can scroll back far enough to
see the beginning of the kernel starting?

You should be able to see the comandline that is being passed to the
kernel, which SHOULD include  NIC=8139too

If it doesn't include that, then you've got a problem in dhcpd.conf.
