Hi,

Last week I found out about this project. I have downloaded and installed the software on a Dell Optiplex 260. This will be my test server. I have some old Dell OptiPlex GX110s. I started by taking out the harddrives, CDs and floppy drives. It seems I should have left the floppy drives to load some software for the NICs.
I don't know if you have special reasons not to leave the stuff in the machines, and I don't know what kind of machines those ones are, but in some cases it can be useful to leave the stuff in. Either for using, or because some old BIOS' always complain about missing hard disks.
I saw you already go pointed to rom-o-matic.
I need some help here. I seem to remember that I need to load some software that the NIC card needs to be able to boot from the Linux Terminal Server. I am new to Linux and am trying to learn as quickly as possible. I have signed up to take some beginning courses from redHat. Are there any other good places to get some beginning training especially as it might apply to this project?
IMHO, the best way to learn is to not only go to a course, but also to fiddle around a lot, try to make the system jump through hoops and stuff.
Do check what kind of stuff is taught in the course, so you don't just learn point&click stuff, or just things specific for one distro.
I started out pretty much as a point&click SUSE user, but am gradually getting to know more of what's under the hood, as I try more different distro's (SUSE 6.3 - 9.1, RH 8.x, 9.x, Mandrake 8.x, 9.x, Knoppix 3.x, ...). I'll soon have to learn some Mac OS X stuff too.
Knoppix (Debian-based AFAIK) is a very good friend in difficult situations, it pays getting to know it a bit. The "pocket OS".
