I'm not one of the experts, but if you're talking about a SATA RAID controller (hardware RAID), you'd do well to check if the particular controller you're using is supported and works well.
We were looking at getting the Promise FastTrak S150 SX4, but having it work with SUSE 9.x wasn't/isn't quite ready yet (they are/were testing beta drivers).
